AQUA Photography by Michel Roggo
Bears and crocodiles, tropical wetlands and crystal-clear glacier lakes, colourful lagoons and rivers teeming with fish: these are just some of the many motifs captured by Freiburg-based photographer Michel Roggo. This exhibition documented the long and adventurous expeditions on which Roggo embarked throughout his 'Freshwater Project' by showing around 900 photos and ‘making-of’ films.
AQUA presented a beautiful underwater world awash with light and provided an insight into exotic flora and fauna. The trip around the world was an inspiration thanks to the beauty of Gorner Glacier and Verzasca, Lake Baikal or the Iguazú Waterfalls.
Michel Roggo is an internationally recognised freshwater photographer who was won multiple awards. In 2010, he launched his ambitious 'Freshwater Project’ to draw attention to endangered aquatic habitats. Seven years and 40 waterbodies later, Michel Roggo completed his project in 2017.
