Wildlife Photographer of the Year The best nature photographs in the world

Over 48,000 photographs were submitted to the WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2012 competition. Out of these pictures, 100 works were awarded prizes or praisingly mentioned. The Natural History Museum Basel showed these outstanding photographs exclusively in Switzerland.

Professional and amateur photographers are invited to the competition.
The competition comprised 15 categories for adults and three categories for young people.

The WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR competition has been organised by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine since 1964. It has developed into the actual brand for outstanding nature photography.
